In simpler times, designing and/or redesigning your companies online image for computers used to be standard procedure for web designers. With the ever increasing advancement in technology, we have seen the market dictate a different direction for consumers. With the launch of the internet browsing smart phone, we had our first glimpse into the future but many didn't think it would take off as it had and it was discarded. Until Apple unveiled the very first IPhone, smart phones were a luxury used by hard working business people because the cost to upload and download data was too expensive for the average phone user and the internet was very limited by what information was delivered to the phone itself. IPhone was the first smart phone that used a fully operational web browser and was quickly adopted by users of all ages. The mobile smartphone has now moved from the luxury category and into the necessity category. In just 3 short years from it's release of the IPhone, Apple again reformatted the internet and web experience of your average consumer with the launch of the Apple IPad. Following the IPad, many other companies released their own version of the now popular mobile tablets including the Android and Google tablets. In a recent 87-page report, Morgan Stanley analysts believe that mobile internet usage will be bigger than desktop internet usage by 2015. What does this mean for you, the business owner? Simply put, your website must be conducive to these other formats. Whether redesigning your current website to make it mobile friendly or creating new sites specifically designed at the viewing size of each device, mobile devices are only going to progress, so should your website. |
